Madeline v. F. I have appreciated this band for a couple of decades, and somehow missed this album when it came out. How cool that it's now available here. I have always appreciated the combination of luscious groovy downtempo music with lyrics that are sociocritical, anti-imperialist, and anti-war. Thanks for turning me on to Fred Hampton in 2008! Favorite track: Free.

StrangeFlow This may be my favorite Thievery Corporation so far (but it's hard to pick a fav!). Culture of Fear indeed and music is a way to fight it. Great blend of Hip-hop, Jazz, Reggae und Funk. Favorite track: Free.

g_serendipity Because we are living in the culture of fear extended, and music keeps us sane if not aware and alert. This album ahead of its time and yet timelessly excellent.

about

Thievery Corporation continue to blend musical styles in their trademark fashion; space-rock jams lead to hip-hop inspired grooves, airy downtempo trances, and dub-reggae infused vibes throughout the journey. Released on June 28, 2011, Culture of Fear is Thievery Corporation’s 6th studio album through their ESL Music imprint.

Highlights include the ’70s space-funk homage “Web of Deception” and the rock-meets-electronic dance jam “Take My Soul,” featuring longtime collaborator LouLou Ghelichkhani. Boston rapper Mr. Lif also drops by for the title track.
